A War for the Soul of America

There is a war being waged for the soul of America. It is not being fought with guns and cannons, but in our childrenโ€™s classrooms. It is a battle over our very identity, a coordinated effort to tear down our heroes, slander our founding, and teach a new generation to be ashamed of their own country.

This is the truth behind the conflict between the “1619 Project” and the “1776 Commission.”

This is not a simple academic debate. It is a struggle between two irreconcilable visions of America: one that sees a nation founded on the timeless principles of liberty and equality, and another that claims our countryโ€™s true DNA is one of racism and oppression. This is a battle for the heart of America, and it is one we cannot afford to lose.

The 1619 Project: A False and Divisive Founding

The 1619 Project, launched by the New York Times, seeks to fundamentally reframe our nation’s history.

Its central, radical claim is that America was not founded in 1776 on the ideals of liberty, but in 1619 with the arrival of the first enslaved Africans.

It teaches that slavery is not our countryโ€™s original sin, but its very origin.

This is more than a historical error; it is a slander against the American people. This narrative deliberately ignores the profound ideals of the Declaration of Independence and the genius of the Constitution. Its purpose is to indoctrinate our children with the belief that America is not exceptional, but irredeemably racist; that our founding fathers were not heroes, but hypocritical villains; and that all of our institutions are built on a foundation of systemic oppression. It is a narrative designed to create resentment and division, not unity and pride.

The 1776 Commission: A Patriotic Defense of Our Heritage

In response to this attack on our history, President Trump established the 1776 Commission. Its purpose was not to ignore the flaws in our past, but to champion the truth of our founding and promote a โ€œpatriotic education.โ€

The 1776 Commission reaffirmed that the United States is a nation built on the โ€œuniversal and eternal principlesโ€ that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights. It honors the founders as brilliant, courageous men who launched a revolution for liberty that has been a beacon to the world for nearly 250 years.

It teaches that our history is one of striving to live up to those founding ideals, a story of progress and triumph over injustice. It is a defense of our heritage against those who seek to tear it down.

The Battleground: Our Children’s Classrooms

This is not a distant, theoretical conflict. This war is being fought for the minds of our children, in our local schools. Curricula based on the 1619 Project and its divisive ideology are being pushed into classrooms across the country. These lessons teach students to see everything through the lens of race and oppression, and to feel shame instead of gratitude for being an American.

This is why the fight for patriotic education is so critical. We have a sacred duty to ensure that our children learn the true story of Americaโ€”a story of liberty, bravery, and the constant pursuit of a more perfect Union.

They must be taught to revere the Constitution and honor the founders, not to despise them.

This is a battle we must win. We cannot allow a generation of Americans to be raised on a diet of historical lies and anti-American propaganda. The stakes are nothing less than the future of our republic. Patriots must stand up, get involved in their local school boards, and demand that our classrooms become places of learning and inspiration, not indoctrination and shame. Our history is a legacy worthy of defending.
