USConstitution.net Bandwidth Crisis

A message from Steve Mount, your Webmaster:

Running this site is a labor of love for me, and I'm happy to pick up the tab for the site. The ads appearing on the site cover about one quarter of the cost of normal operations for the site. November 2004 was not a normal month, however - with the Presidential elections in the news, traffic to the site ran about three times the normal rate. As a consequence, the traffic limit for the site, 30 Gb per month, will be reached on November 20th. Traffic to the site runs at about 1.1 Gb per day (less on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, more the rest of the week). Overage charges are currently $4.95 per Gb.

In order to keep USConstitution.net from extending too far over its budget, I am looking for people to sponsor days. For $5, you can sponsor a day, from the 20th to the 30th of November. In exchange for your $5, you will get your name at the top of every page, thanking you for your generosity. To sponsor a day, you can use the PayPal link below, or make arrangements with me via email. For any day that goes unsponsored, I will have to decide to either pay the charges myself, or take the site down for the day.

I hate having to ask, and I am looking for hosts that cost less and/or have higher monthly bandwidth limits, but that takes time. Thanks for your consideration!

Note: my unending gratitude goes out to the following people who sponsored days for USConstitution.net: Clarence Brown, Ian Slavin, Peter Bell, WH Penrose, Gary Goodman, Raymond Lieb, and an Anonymous Donor.
